PRINCIPAL ACHIEVEMENTS:

It inaugurated narcotic education courses in public schools in the 1800's and secured the adoption of legislation requiring such instruction in every state in the Union.

It was a leading factor in bringing about the 18th amendment for National Prohibition.

It had an important part in securing the vote for women.

It has been an important factor in securing protective legislation for women and children and in arousing public sentiment regarding moral and social issues and continues to do so.

It has also advocated woman's rights and human rights, including issues such as:

Universal voting rights for women and minorities.

Shelters for abused women and children.

Eight-hour work days and opposition to Child labor.

Equal pay for equal work.

bullet

Federal Aid to education and founding of Kindergartens.

Prison reform and Legal Aid.
