OUTREACH:
Purpose: To exemplify Christ in all ways. To know Him in His fullness

- Read through the Bible in one year (3 chapters a day and 5
on Sunday will accomplish this.) Provide a Bible
Study/Discussion with neighbors and/or friends.
- Be involved in Screening for Pornography. Protect our children
and youth by joining the American Family Association and
others to educate and become involved in an effort to stand for Biblical ethics and decency.
- Use Signal Press Literature for exhibits and on Bulletin
Boards in churches. Catalogs are available by contacting

EDUCATION:
Purpose: To provide opportunities for every adult, youth, and child to
know the truth
about alcohol, tobacco, and illegal drugs. To use every available
setting -- school, church, community organizations -- to accomplish this specified goal.
Some
suggested projects:
1. Seek appointments with school administrators and church officials to show
samples of Signal Press educational materials. Explain the
Picture Coloring, Poster, and Essay contests and invite them
to participate.

2. Observe the GREAT AMERICAN SMOKE OUT on the third Thursday of
November which is sponsored by the American Cancer
Society. Set up exhibits in schools, churches, public Libraries, and other available locations.
3. Promote Youth Temperance Education (YTE) Week (fourth full week in April) by contacting
churches about the current YTE insert which may be placed in church bulletins.
HOME
PROTECTION:
Purpose: To strengthen family values by
developing a firm, lifetime commitment to total abstinence, purity, and truth, and to encourage family members to participate in the WCTU program.
Projects:
- TOTS FOR TEMPERANCE.
Materials (lessons and
activity sheets, etc.) available for
teaching pre-school children about total abstinence.
- Promote CHRISTIAN FAMILY WEEK (second week of May). Plan Family Nights.
- Promote FAMILY of the YEAR. Nomination forms available. Publicize the family in the local media.
- Work with DYSFUNCTIONAL FAMILIES. A dysfunctional
family may have one or more dependent children living in the
household. Keep a record and report what is done. Report forms available.
WHITE RIBBON RECRUITS (WRR)
SERVICES. This is a
dedication service in which parents and/or grandparents Pledge
to teach their pre-school children the principles of total
abstinence and purity. A white ribbon is tied around the right
wrist of the child and parents are given a packet of material to encourage them as they raise their child/children.
LEGISLATION/CITIZENSHIP:
Purpose: To inform the membership and others of legislative issues
that relate
to God and Home and Every Land; to actively participate in our
government and to encourage others to do the same; to show love and
respect for our country through prayer and actions; to help elevate the standards of candidates for public office.
Projects:
- PRAYER: Pray for our government leaders
daily. Invite legislators
and other government officials to a Prayer Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, or Reception.
INFORM MEMBERS: Notify members and other concerned citizens about bills in the Congress that relate to our concerns.

- The STATE DIRECTOR should provide the membership with the contact information

Legislators.
- COOPERATION: Join with other groups on shared concerns.
- SPEAK OUT: Be well-informed on issues so you can attend and speak at public hearings.
- VOTING: Participate in voter registration. Encourage everyone to vote at each election.
PUBLIC
RELATIONS:
Purpose: To serve as WCTU ambassadors to the community with facts on
issues of importance to the family and to the work of the WCTU; to advocate
the position of the WCTU on issues; to publicize the activities of the union.
Projects:
- PUBLICITY: Send news releases to the media to
inform them of special
events sponsored by the WCTU such as special speakers for meetings, festivities for special days, etc.
- EXHIBITS and DISPLAYS of literature at churches, schools, fairs, libraries,
public meetings, community-sponsored events, when the opportunity presents itself.
- WOMAN=S HISTORY
MONTH (March): Promote the WCTU In schools and libraries during this month.
- ALCOHOL AWARENESS MONTH (April): Promote this month and
particularly Youth Temperance Education (YTE) Week (fourth week of
April) with exhibits and Signal Press materials. Encourage the writing
of ALetters to the
Editor@ during this
month to reach the public with facts that support our stand for total
abstinence
- PROM NIGHT and GRADUATION: Assist or sponsor drug-free parties for youth particularly on these special nights.
PUBLICATIONS:
The
Union Signal, a quarterly magazine with articles of timely information
($8.00 per year)The
Promoter, quarterly mailing with samples of new and Revised Signal
Press leaflets ($1.50 per year)
National Happenings, complimentary to each member.
SOCIAL
SERVICE:
Purpose: To reach out to the community and the world in Christian love
and to build friendly relations with all groups of the church and community which have similar goals.
Projects:
- VISIT the SICK and SHUT-INS.
- GIFTS and/or FLOWERS can be given for any occasion.
- CARDS and/or LETTERS to those serving in the
military.
- Plan a PROGRAM for a NURSING HOME FACILITY. Contact the office to ask permission and to make
arrangements.
- COLLECT tabs from soda pop cans. They may be given to Ronald McDonald House for dialysis
expenses.
- VOLUNTEER at Rescue Missions, Food Pantries, and
A Meals on Wheels".
