MAINE WCTU STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

bulletTo inform society regarding the value of total abstinence, through providing  scientific facts concerning the nature and effects of beverage alcohol;
bulletTo promote just laws;
bulletTo promote good citizenship;
bulletTo build Christian temperance principles into the character of our children;
bulletTo build public sentiment for sobriety

These objectives are achieved through the several departments: Christian Outreach, Home Protection, Education, Legislation/Citizenship, Public Relations, and Social Service.  (See DEPARTMENTS)

Provision is also made for Youth involvement through the Youth  Temperance Council (YTC) and children's involvement through the Loyal Temperance Legion (LTL). Involving our youth and children in these programs is a positive approach in helping to prepare them to be morally decent and responsible human beings.

Children from birth to age 6 may be enrolled as White Ribbon Recruits when their parents and/or grandparents pledge to teach them the values of abstinence.
